Adweek Article: How I Got into Advertising

In 2024, I was featured in this Adweek article, highlighting my story of how I bet on myself to pursue advertising in Los Angeles.

After graduating college in 2022, I was invited to embark on a three month internship in Los Angeles. Knowing LA is an advertising HQ, I used my last $2000 to ship my car from Chicago to LA and commit myself to finding a long term career. After the internship ended, I slept in a hotel waiting on recruiters to let me know if I was hired. I got the call from Deutsch four days later.

Live Discussion with Marcus Collins!

I reaaaaaaally love strategy and advertising!

While at Deutsch, I was sponsored to attend the 2023 AdColor Conference where I met Marcus Collins. I just started studying Marcus and his content as a new strategist in the industry. He had launched his new novel "For The Culture" and upon meeting asking him to mentor me, he graciously agreed to lead a book club with me and all of Deutsch.

2024 ADCOLOR FUTURE

One of the reasons I love strategy is because changing human behavior doesn't always have to be for clicks & purchases. It can be used for the betterment of the communities we represent.

For my continued participation in the collective effort of advocating for deserving talent in our industry, I was recognized as an AdColor Future. Some highlights leading up to this award include rebranding Deutsch's Black ERG to D.R.E.A.M: Deutsch LA's Resource For Empowering African American Marketers. I also continue to participate as a junior facilitator in the Marcus Graham Project and I use advocacy as a continued key ingredient for successful campaign strategies.

2025 Tedx Talk - Modern Marketing

I was invited to join of panel of decorated professionals and discuss the expected trends and tropes for our industry in 2026.

I was asked "What are some of the ethical considerations that marketers need to address in the current digital age?"

My response:

"Social media is only going to bring us closer together. The question is how close is too close? Pretty soon that gap will be bridged and technology will become embedded in the ways we move, think, shop, and relate to one another, whether through wearables, spatial computing, or more immersive interfaces. When that happens, the ethical question shifts from “what data are we collecting?” to “how much of someone’s life are we entitled to participate in?”
